Food poverty in the UK is a reality many people face every day. We’re constantly told to eat fresh and prioritise our health but when good quality produce is expensive and time is limited, how realistic is that? Processed and frozen foods are often SEEN as cheaper, and are undoubtably quicker. For many people they are a necessity. There’s also a conversation to be had about underutilised food sources like game meat, including deer. Venison is lean, high in protein, and often locally sourced, yet it’s rarely part of everyday diets. Is it a lack of awareness or a cultural shift away from these traditional options? is eating fresh, nutritious food truly attainable for everyone given the rising cost of living? Healthy living shouldn’t be a privilege and we jump into a conversation started by the thecountryfoodtrust and schoffelcountry where Venison is utilised as part of an effort to reduce food poverty.
