Sometimes you stand there and wonder why you flog your pan out every single day for little return, I have no time no money am physically exhausted. Farming is an industry like no other the responsibility on us the farmer to take care of not only the land but however many animals we have and that’s all before our own children and right at the end of the list ourselves. It’s 8.39 now and I’m still outside working the children will have taken themselves to bed if we are lucky they will still be awake for a cuddle when we get finished.
Farming isn’t pretend it’s not always fun it’s not just feeding cute baby animals it’s a whole way of life you live and breathe, you can’t pick it up and put it down and to be honest there isn’t a clock off time at all especially with the robots and calving etc your always on call.
I’m so grateful for the dear friends I have around me who completely get this crazy way of life, they understand the intricacies of farming and caring for something other than yourself, today has been a mediocre day I’m a bit disillusioned with what the general public value in a farmer and more so a woman in farming and that twinned with an early morning and late night and I’m glad to be sitting down after a shower with a full bag of family sized crisps two bags of jelly babies and some reduced chocolate mousse (don’t even suggest I can’t eat all that because I will prove you wrong) here’s to tomorrow let’s hope for a few rays of sunshine so I can show off my body and gain a few extra followers for the gram #womeninfarming 😂👌
