Deborah this one’s for you, a short instructional video on how to stomach tube a weak lamb, this one went into the incubator and by the next day was looking more lively, he’s since been adopted onto a ewe and is still inside to make sure they settle together.
I reiterate why I said in the video I once killed a calf by stomach tubing and listening hence why I rang the vet and got an in person demonstration. stomach tubing is a skill that must be learned properly
✔️ Always get hands-on training from a vet or experienced farmer before attempting please don’t wing it on my instructions 😂
✔️ Correct positioning and technique are critical to avoid the airway.
✔️ A key safety check used by trained handlers is feeling along the neck to confirm the tube is in the oesophagus.
✔️ If you’re unsure at any point, stop and start again
This is one of those jobs where a quick demo from a professional makes all the difference. Don’t guess like I did and make a mistake.
