Harvest is just ONE WEEK away, my $7,000 mansion still isn't finished, and after receiving a massive 9 inches of rain, our crops could be in serious trouble! Farmers across the area are reporting rotting soybeans, moldy corn, and even corn sprouting inside the husks. With harvest approaching fast, I'm heading into the fields to find out if our crops are suffering the same fate.
Meanwhile, work on the $7,000 mansion is moving full steam ahead! The drywall crew is making progress, I'm tackling more bathroom plumbing, and I head to town to pick up a massive one-piece fiberglass shower unit. My wife and I also start picking out paint colors, but who knew there were so many different shades of white?! With harvest about to consume all my time, I also have to make a big decision about hiring someone to finish the brickwork so we can get the exterior siding completed before winter.
Then it's time to inspect our corn and soybean fields. After hearing reports of serious crop damage from neighboring farmers, I'm concerned about what I'll find. From moldy soybeans to corn kernels actually sprouting before harvest, some of these problems could cost farmers thousands of dollars or even make their crops impossible to sell. Will our crops survive the excessive rainfall, or are we about to face a very expensive harvest?
