Today I am processing chickens. 233 chickens to be exact. The processing options are starting to develop in my area and I am excited to see what the future brings.
For chicken processing day I pack up the birds the night before at around 8pm. I then leave my house at 3:45 in the morning to get to the processor. The birds are dropped off, papers are signed, and I wait in a local cafe for them to be done while I surf the internets.
I made comment that I was unhappy with the size of my birds this batch, and actually last batch as well. I have changed nothing in my system and yet my process weights are way low for this time of year. Yet another thing to research and as I track down a solution to light birds.
This video was shot, edited, and uploaded from my phone. A farmer on the go! I did this for a few reasons, but mainly to show that it can be easy and you can get a message across even while on the go doing farm work. Video can be a great way to reach people and have a conversation.
