Today we tackled the gearbox on the feed rollers… and it turned into one of the most awkward tear-down jobs yet. Nothing wanted to move, nothing matched the manual, and every step was a debate!
We cleaned threads, knocked out expansion pins, chased missing circlips, argued about force vs feel, spanners vs sockets and called people for advice. Between stubborn bearings and a shaft that refused to let go, it was a proper test of patience.
Eventually — after heat, punches, pry bars and a few near-regrets — the housing finally came off.
One small victory in a job that’s nowhere near finished.
This is Part 6 of Project Harvester — stripping the gearbox, learning on the fly, and trying not to break anything in the process.
