1st Day of Wheat Harvest 2022! Staying Positive in a Massive Drought!
It is so exciting that today is the first day of the 2022 winter wheat harvest on our Montana farm! You will see how horrible our crop is from the severe drought we are in, with yields of between 6 and 10 bushels per acre! Normally our yields would be 70 bushes or more per acre. If you look at my 2020 harvest videos you can definitely tell the difference! I am very happy to be back on the combine and I believe it is important to be positive even though this crop will not even pay for itself this year. We just have to get it harvested and hope for a better crop next year. In Montana, due to our short growing season, we can only harvest one crop per year. There are good years and there are bad years and this is a very poor crop. Our grain cart is not repaired because we are still waiting on the part. Our area also has no trees, as we get extremely high winds and about 12 inches of moisture annually (snow and rain). We are on the great high plains which is like a desert and we are at 3500 feet elevation. I hope you learn a little bit about harvesting winter wheat. Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoy my video!

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am an 18-year-old 4th-generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.
