In today's video we head down to the Broads National Park to check out the current dyke cleaning operation taking place. Alan the digger driver is doing a great job! It's important to keep the dykes clean and free of sediment this is because if the dykes become blocked with old vegetation over time this can cause the marshes to become flooded. And flooded marshes would result in the grass dying off. The grass on the marshes is of significant importance to the farm because its where the livestock graze over the summer time, and its also where we harvest the silage, and hay, when the silage is harvested it's baled and transported across the St Olaves bridge and it's taken back to the farm to be stored ready to be fed out to the cattle over the winter months. I hope you enjoy todays video!
