James continues his visit to Australia, joining large-scale grower David Cox to explore how grain farming operates at true continental scale, from paddock to port.

We look at how Australian farms market grain using CGX, run their own lorries to CBH receival sites, and manage huge volumes through open bulk storage systems capable of holding 33,000 tonnes per store. From grain pits and conveyors to extended weighbridges designed for Australian road trains, this is grain logistics on a completely different level.

Out in the field, we see cultivation with a Quadtrac, lime spreading operations, and the machinery choices suited to vast acreages and dryland systems. We also touch on wool production, farm accommodation for seasonal labour, and the infrastructure required to support farming across Western Australia.

This is a rare behind-the-scenes look at Australian grain farming — and how it compares with UK arable systems.
