At long last, the rain has come. In this episode a sudden 34mm downpour transforms everything, closing up the cracks and turning the brutally hard ground into near perfect cultivating conditions almost overnight, lifting output by a third and, as Glenn puts it, proving a complete game changer. The timing could hardly be better, with the oilseed rape drilled and now set to come racing out of the ground.

With cultivations back in full swing, the focus turns to the new farms we have taken on. We explain how we map unfamiliar land to keep the team working safely and efficiently, from marking hidden manholes to using our new Crop Wise software to manage tasks and avoid first year mistakes.

There is reward too, as the team head off for a well earned end of harvest bash after an incredibly hard, dry season. It is a proud and reflective moment, with the business in a comfortable place and drilling now just around the corner.
