With the land work done for now, the focus shifts to the workshop and the long list of winter jobs that keep a farm this size running. In this episode we go through the servicing that quietly makes the difference, from rectifying the weigh-bridge after a knock, to a trailer heading for its MOT, to the crawlers coming in for their big end of season services.
As ever, it is the jobs you do not expect that bite. A routine service turns up a worn wheel cylinder and a dodgy handbrake, a stubborn shaft refuses to budge even under a ten tonne ram, and a hub that has seen better days. We also fit the new tracks across all three crawlers, check in on the solar repairs, and there are a few mixed emotions as the season is quietly put to bed.
It is honest, behind the scenes stuff, the unglamorous work that never usually makes the camera but matters just as much as harvest or drilling. From the weighbridge to the workshop floor, this is another look behind the scenes of a modern farming business.
