It is the final week before harvest, and there is a huge amount to get done. In this episode we get the combines and chaser bins fired up and ready, fill the tanks with fuel, welcome the harvest team back for the season, and work through the long list of jobs that has to be ticked off before the first field is cut.
We also sit down for two proper deep dives. First we talk grain store hygiene with Tony, the self styled guardian of the grain, covering how to keep stored grain in top condition, the truth about smoke bombs, and the new rules on rodent control. Then John Fuller joins us to inspect the new fertiliser store and bund, and to give an honest and slightly worrying look at where the fertiliser market is heading, from the global nitrogen squeeze to the case for buying early.
