Welcome to our farm! It's that time of year again—we're in a mad dash to get everything ready for potato harvest. We're only a few days away from starting, and there’s a ton to do. This video shows all the hard work that goes into preparing for a successful harvest season.

We start by tackling the equipment. We've got the baler and harvester cleaned up and have replaced a bunch of old belts on our potato harvester to make sure it's running smoothly. Next, we prepare our fleet of trucks by swapping out manure beds for bulk beds and making sure all the lights and wiring are working for those late nights in the field.

In the shop, we're hooking up our crossover (some call it a windrower) to a tractor, which involves putting on dual tires and connecting a web of electrical and hydraulic lines. Down in the cellars, we're getting our vent stretchers out to fix old, bent vents. The cellar floors are getting a much-needed repair to make sure they're level for the new crop.

The most challenging part of this process is setting up all the cellar equipment—conveyors, a sizer, and several pilers. We spend a lot of time troubleshooting electrical issues, including figuring out why some of our machines are running backward. We also have to fix our automatic systems and get the emergency stop buttons working correctly to ensure everyone's safety.

With the big day just around the corner, we haul all the equipment out to the field for a trial run. This is a critical step to catch any last-minute problems. We get our first look at this year's potato crop—it's looking really good! We discover a few more problems, like a loose slip clutch on the harvester and a few pieces of equipment that just aren't working right.

It's a lot of work, but with a bit of elbow grease and a lot of troubleshooting, we're slowly getting everything figured out. We’ll be running full steam ahead soon! Stay tuned for our next video, where we dive deeper into how all this amazing farm equipment actually works!
