Winter wheat harvest 2026 starts with Steve in the John Deere S790 combine harvester at our earliest drilled block.

After some mixed analysis over the weekend in terms of whether the crop was fit to harvest we decided to head up there and started in a 9 acre field - which is also where we ended as Dad decided it’s not quite ready to go and we’ll hold off for now,

One full and one part load returns and is tipped in the shed that was prepared earlier in the day - swept, sprayed with insecticide to protect the grain and the grain blowers serviced and delivered.

We check more of our winter wheat as the day ends to work out a projected harvest date and plan for the coming weeks.
