The daily goings on of an agricultural contracting outfit in Devon - running a fleet of John Deere tractors ranging from 6R250 up to 8R410 , combine harvester and forager along with a JCB Fastrac 8330 iCON and a Vervaet beet harvester and Horsch Leeb sprayer.
Horsch, Kuhn, Joskin, Rolland, Pichon, Samson, Dalbo implements/ trailers and slurry tankers help us carry out all aspects of arable farming from Spraying, cultivation and drilling, through to harvesting the crops.
Todays video focuses in on the washing and chopping of our beet crop that is feeding the local AD plant. We wash approximately 80 tonnes of beet to allow the plant to feed through the weekend before we start to harvest the beet crops again. The beet washer/ chopper is a constant battle with breakdowns and repairs due to the nature of its operation and the number of bearings, hydraulics, webs and moving parts that are going on.
We also check in on what everyone else is up to once the chopping is done, maintenance and improvements to machines are a regular feature of the winter months.
