Setting up calves for success from the very beginning is the name of our game. #MAHBRANDPARTNER

The more we can do to help young calves build immunity within the first weeks and months of life can really set them up for success down the road. This starts with quality colostrum and we add to it with the new calf protocol we have in place with the guidance of our veterinarian.

When we tag our calves, they also receive important vaccinations. They’re banded if they’re a bull calf because it’s easier on everyone. Their navel is sprayed with Iodine to prevent any navel infection and we get an approximate birth weight with a weight tape.

We give BOVILIS® NASALGEN® 3-PMH and cover both clostridials and tetanus with BOVILIS VISION® vaccines. These vaccinations help them build immunity against various diseases, including bovine respiratory disease, Blackleg, Tetanus and more.

Calf vaccination protocols are not a one-size-fits-all decision. Make sure you work with your local veterinarian to determine a protocol that works best for your herd.
