In this weeks update we take a look at all the crops and see how they are coping with the lack of rain. We look at the winter wheat on the heavy land, spring barley and the beans on the light land.
It’s time to collect some more poultry muck from the nearby Chicken farm, there are six Sheds and we do them every 6 1/2 weeks. This is a valuable alternative source of nutrients and helps improve organic matter.
Rhonda organised a Farm safety day for and a few members with around 50 attending. In this update, I chat to Jason from the National Grid about what to do if you are tipping a trailer and you hit overhead powerlines and basically you are sitting on a live circuit.
I went to Farm fest with Rhonda and a friend. We had a good day looking around all the stands. It was a great event and some of the things on view I knew about but would be great education for non-Farming folk. The music was fantastic and we saw the Hawkstone farmers choir win their semi-final in Britain’s got talent.
