Like many folks, we too our pond for granted. We figured if we dug it good and deep, it would last us many years.
Like most folk, we didn't KNOW we needed a maintenance plan, and in just a few short years, our pond FILLED IN with invasive cattails, swallowing it whole and destroying it.
