When you are on a farm, you get used to being CREATIVE when getting a job done . . . so of course when it came to building our basement walls and STANDING THEM UP, we got CREATIVE and re-purposed our hay equipment!
So far, it's working GREAT! Today we are slamming out the rear MAIN SUPPORTING WALL and HOPING our builder will LOVE IT when he arrives next week . . . but IS it correct?
Erik walks through a bit of advice with how to frame windows and doors when building a wall, and we discuss a bit on local building codes regarding exterior walls in basements.

Building half of it on our own allows us a MASSIVE savings with our budget and makes this unique home design actually affordable!
We started with a low cost floor plan, to make this an affordable barndominium and learned how to save money on a house build.
