Welcome to another rainy day on the farm! Today, I'm out with our potato cultivator, which we affectionately call the Dammer Diker. This machine is crucial for ensuring our potato rows are just right after planting, preventing the potatoes from poking through the ground and turning green.

The Spudnik cultivator features specialized shanks with blades that break up the soil underneath the potatoes, ensuring they have loose soil to grow in. It also has wings that widen the rows by throwing dirt up onto the sides, creating optimal conditions for healthy potato growth.

Join me as I walk you through how this cultivator works and show you the results in our fields. Despite the rain, it's a perfect day for this task as the wet sand makes it easier to work with. I'll also explain why this process is essential, especially on hilly terrain, where the cultivator helps create dams and dikes to manage water flow.
