Another busy day on the farm! We kicked things off by digging into the potato fields to see how this year’s crop is sizing up. The spuds are looking solid—good yield potential, no hollow heart showing, and moisture right where we want it. With verticillium wilt showing up in a few plants, we’re keeping a close eye, but overall the potatoes are off to a strong finish.

From there, it was time to jump in the Fendt Ideal 9 combine and get back to wheat harvest. Yields are running strong with 140–170 bushels per acre, and we even filled the bin with over 500 bushels in one cut. The grain cart was running hard to keep up, and we’re getting closer to wrapping up the wheat for the season.

Out in the fields, the straw crew was hard at work. The baler put out thousands of bales, with stacks going up fast and trailers hauling loads back to the yard. Nothing quite like the smell of fresh straw after a big wheat crop.

Not every day runs smoothly though—we dealt with a couple irrigation issues, including fixing a wheel line and adjusting a pivot. Later, we even had to clean out a truck bed that was loaded with a full slab of hardened concrete. Farming never fails to throw surprises your way.

As the sun set Harvest season is in full swing, and while there’s a lot of long hours, the payoff of seeing the crop come in is worth it.
