Day two of potato harvest brought plenty of challenges. We had to switch fields because the first field was too wet, then a conveyor broke down at the cellar, forcing us to scramble to get everything moving again.

The potatoes are looking really good, but wet soil is bringing in a lot more dirt than normal. We also had problems with the harvester fan, equipment breakdowns, and even a piece of metal getting caught in the digging chain.

Despite all the setbacks, we kept pushing and eventually filled the 45,000-sack cellar — that's about 4.5 million pounds of potatoes! Then we had to move all of the equipment over to the next cellar so we could be ready to start again first thing in the morning.

Potato harvest is never quite as simple as it looks!
