Potato harvest is almost here, and there is A LOT to get ready before we can dig the first potatoes!

With a broken foot, I'm getting around the farm on my new "wheelchair" — the four wheeler — while the crew works on getting the potato harvester, windrower, trucks, belts, chains, and everything else ready to go. We run into a few problems along the way, including a bad chain, the wrong-size belt, and a few parts that need to be picked up in town.

We also get the potato cellars ready, bring in a generator, start repairing one of our older cellars, and water the field ahead of harvest so we don't bring a ton of dry dirt into the cellar.

We're planning to start potato harvest in just a few days, and I'm going to do my best to film as much of the harvest as possible. After a tough growing season with smoke, heat, and lower yields across Idaho, we're anxious to see what is actually underneath the ground.

Potato harvest is officially about to begin!
