Welcome back to Day 6 of wheat harvest! Today we moved into a huge 200-acre field, and things got interesting right away. Hidden irrigation pipe, mile-long rows, a rough field that was beating us to death, and Christopher filling the combine in just one pass kept us running all day!
The good news? Our wheat is yielding around 120–130 bushels per acre, and after adjusting the header, the combine is feeding much better and running up to 3.5 MPH! We also talk about why planting fewer seeds per acre might actually help us get better yields and make harvesting easier next year.
Josh takes over the grain cart later in the day, and we finish up another crazy day trying to keep the combine moving and the trucks full!
