Day 3 of wheat harvest turned into one of the most interesting days of harvest yet!

We’re hitting some INSANE wheat yields, with parts of this field pushing 200+ bushels per acre! The problem? Our Fendt combine’s header is struggling to keep up with the heavy crop, constantly plugging up in the middle and forcing us to slow way down.

On top of that, we had a fuel cap come loose and fill the fuel tank with chaff, a chain that wasn’t working quite right, and a header that just doesn’t want to feed this much wheat and straw.

And then I decided to jump back into the combine myself! I haven't actually run the combine in about 2 years, so Christopher had to give me a refresher course on all the buttons, adjustments, and tricks to keep this thing feeding.

Eventually, we move into another field where the yields drop to around 100 bushels per acre, but we're able to pick up the speed a little bit. Of course, that doesn't mean the header stops giving us trouble!

We also start dealing with darkness, dust, dew, and a slip clutch that sounds like it may be on its last legs. It was a long day, but we got a LOT of wheat in the trucks.
